This couple is one of our favorites! Michael is the brother of one of my childhood friends so they’re automatically special to me. I’m a tad bit older (ok – a big bit) than they are, so in spite of growing up in such close proximity I really didn’t get a chance to meet him until we got wind that they were looking for a wedding photographer. The day we met we all hit it off instantly and were thrilled when we found out that they had decided to hire us. They are actually going to be having two ceremonies to honor both of their cultural backgrounds, which we couldn’t be more pleased about since it means we get to spend two weekends in a row with them!
We started out our session at one of my favorite south side restaurants, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse (they have amazing bruschetta, you really must try it sometime). They chose to start at Johnny’s because they spend a lot of date nights at the restaurant and even went there for dinner to celebrate on the eve of their engagement. We love it when our couples want to go to special places in their engagement sessions. It’s just so much more fun and personal that way! We wandered around the whole place and had a lot of fun. It was there that Michael told us his one and only joke, which completely went over my head I’m embarrassed to say.
After Johnny’s we hit up Ewing Park, another south side gem. Go south side! The lilacs were in full bloom and the park is always stunning. Joey had them hiding under trees at that location. They were good sports through the whole thing and I got to hang out on my super cool bear blanket enjoying the scenery while they wrapped it up. It really was quite nice! We finished up in our favorite alley downtown and then parted ways. They went back to Johnny’s to celebrate the milestone in their journey to the alter, fitting. Enjoy!
